Einstein & Mileva tells the story of acclaimed physicist, Albert Einstein, and his first wife, scientist Mileva Maric; the rise of his career, the loss of their daughter, and the effects of ambition on a seemingly infallible relationship. Following Einstein through his years with The Olympia Academy, playwright Caitlin Shannon shares the story of a man lost in his own genius and the wife that gave up everything to see him succeed. This production marks the playwright’s US Debut where Einstein and Mileva was selected as a semi-finalist in the O’Neill Playwriting Conference.

caitlin shannon
playwright
Caitlin Shannon wrote her first screenplay, Fallowfield, while at Manchester University in the UK. She went on to co-write 10 Downing St with Travis Aaron (a drama pilot and series bible for U.S television). For Ross Media she co-wrote the screenplay Soldier Boy, based on the novel Soldatenkind and developed the screenplay The Wizard of Gordonstoun . Most recently she wrote the sitcom pilot The Millers of Noland House. Caitlin is also an actress most recently appearing in Once Bitten at The Orange Tree Theatre in London. Einstein and Mileva is her first play.

Gregory is a graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre in New York City. Theater credits include Stephen Belber’s Tape, Beth Henley’s Crimes of the Heart, and Michael Niederman’s To Barcelona. Television credits include NBC’s “Mercy,” CBS’s “As the World Turns,” a well as the upcoming CBS Drama “Person of Interest” starring Jim Caviezel and Taraji P. Henson. He most recently appeared opposite Matt Damon and Michael Kelly in the feature film “The Adjustment Bureau,” directed by George Nolfi.

Sarah was born in Leicester, England and trained at Guildford School of Acting in London. Her theatre work includes the world premiere of The Coast of Utopia (National Theatre, London, dir. Trevor Nunn), Baby in Dirty Dancing (West End), South Pacific (National Theatre, dir. Trevor Nunn), The Champion of Paribanou (dir. Alan Ayckbourn), Major Barbara, The Madras House (off-West End), John Tillinger’s Time of My Life (Public Theatre, Pittsburgh) and numerous projects at the National Theatre Studio. National Tours: Romeo and Juliet (Juliet), Look Back in Anger (Alison Porter). TV: Doctors (BBC), Casualty (BBC). Sarah lives in New York City and is excited to be part of CTC.

Sid is thrilled to be making his CTC debut in Einstein and Mileva. He was recently seen as Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet and Angelo in The Comedy of Errors with The Acting Company, produced in association with the Guthrie Theater. Other theater credits include productions with the LCT Directors Lab, Boomerang Theatre Company, Florida Stage, Georgia Shakespeare, and Minneapolis’ Children’s Theatre Company. He has appeared on NBC's "Law & Order", and is a recipient of the Broadway League Rising Star Award. Sid is a graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program and New York's High School of Performing Arts.

Matthew is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While studying he received the David Hammond Award for Excellence in Dramatic Art and was voted one of the Best Supporting Performances in the Triangle area in 2008 for Dead Man Walking. He is also an alumnus of the Acting Apprentice Program at The Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. Matthew has worked regionally at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, PlayMakers Rep and the Chicago Fringe and internationally at the Prague International Fringe Festival. This summer Matthew has been seen in two prior New York City Productions, This Lady’s Not For Burning with Parenthesis and The Austerity of Hope at The Fresh Fruit Festival.

Nick is a freelance stage manager based out of New York City and is thrilled to be working with CTC! Jarrod is originally from Philadelpia, MS where he attended Mississippi State. In 2010, he came to New York City to study the Meisner Technique at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. Favorite roles include Dr. Einstein in Arsenic and Old Lace, Ig in Ug: The Caveman Musical, Kenny/Ben in The Mineola Twins and The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. Jarrod recently Stage Managed the play Vincent: 1979 starring Suzanne Shepherd for Can Start LLC under the direction of Ron Stetson. He has also worked for Carey Dinner Theatre and Starkville Community Theatre. In May 2012, Jarrod will graduate from The Neighborhood Playhouse.

Emma’s directing and choreographic work include America (DUTF ’09, NY, Audience Award Winner), The Tempest: Remixed (Teatro Heckscher at El Museo del Barrio NY), Paramnesia (One Extra Dance, Aust.) Sense of Purpose on Sundays (The Univeristy of New South Wales) as well as several Crosshatch readings and short films. She assisted on Always Greener (Channel 7 Television, Australia) and for The Real Theatre Company’s production of Hair. Emma was also part of the original creative team for US, a musical based on the life of Peter Gabriel. Emma studied directing under Karen Kohlhaas at Atlantic Theatre Company and is a graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre and Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts.
